Latest Projects - October 2007
In February 2007 at the Wintergrass festival in Tacoma, Washington, Frank had the opportunity
to purchase a piece of beautifully figured quilted maple wood. The wood had been in the
basement of a friend and owner of the Red Fiddle for some 40 or so years.
Frank decided he could get three one-piece backs from this wood. He finished one instrument, #147, just before the Darrington festival in July. This fiddle has a very deep resonant tone, but has very balanced volume on all four strings. The fiddle sold right away to Pat White, fiddler for the US Navy Country Current band.
Instruments #149 and #150 were just completed using this same back wood. All three instruments are pictured below.

Frank just completed setting all three instruments up for the annual Violin Maker's Convention and Competition to be held in Tucson, AZ by the VMAAI on October 9-12. If you'd like more information on this competition, please see the VMAAI's website at www.VMAAI.com.
