#175, a 4-string, was completed in April 2009.  This instrument was custom made for a young lady here in Boise who has been playing fiddle a few months, but she is progressing very well.  She will compete with #175 in the Idaho Open Fiddle Contest in early June.  The top wood for this Guarneri model is Idaho Engelmann spruce cut by Frank near Brundage Ski Area just outside McCall, ID.  The back wood, sides and neck are made from a piece of quilted maple from Bay Well Woods near Port Townsend, Washington.  At the customer’s request Frank used a light honey colored finish on this instrument. This fiddle has a rich, deep tone.
