#174, a 4-string, was completed in October 2009.  This instrument was custom made for a customer in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  The top wood for this Guarneri model is Idaho Engelmann spruce cut by Frank near Brundage Ski Area just outside McCall, ID.  The back wood, sides and neck are made from a piece of very unique zebra Myrtlewood that Frank purchased in Oregon.  Frank felt this was a great sounding fiddle.  He competed it in the steel-string division at the October Violin Making Competition in Tucson, Arizona and it placed third in tone in the first round.
