| #172 is a 5-string Guarneri model that was completed in June 2009. The two-piece back, the sides and the neck are made from big leaf maple that Frank purchased from Bay Woods near Port Townsend, WA. The top wood is Engelmann spruce that Frank harvested in central Idaho north of Brundage Mountain. Frank used a light amber oil varnish on this instrument. This 5-string has a wonderful rich tone that projects well, is even across the strings, and is easy to play. This instrument is making its debut at the Father’s Day festival in Grass Valley, California. |
