| #168 is a 4-string Guarneri model completed in late February 2009. The one-piece back, sides and neck on this violin are made from a very unique piece of figured maple that appears to be birdseye at first glance, but is actually quilted maple that Frank purchased from Bay Woods near Port Townsend, WA. The top wood is Engelmann spruce that came from central Idaho north of Brundage Mountain. This instrument is a medium brown with a nice yellow undercoat. When making its debut at the Lake Havasu City, AZ festival it received very favorable comments about its beauty, evenness, and rich mellow tone. |
