#166 is a 5-string Guarneri model that was custom made for a professional musician and was completed in December 2008.  The musician requested that the Guarneri model be used rather than the Maggini model that Frank normally uses for his 5-strings.  The two-piece back, the sides and the neck are made from big leaf maple that Frank purchased from Bay Woods near Port Townsend, WA.  The top wood is Engelmann spruce that Frank harvested in central Idaho north of Brundage Mountain.  This instrument has a nice brown color with a yellow undertone.  This instrument was played on stage at the River City Bluegrass Festival and sounded great.
