| #161 is a 5-string fiddle completed in August 2008. The back, sides and neck are made from Carolina Poplar, wood Frank harvested on the Saras farm near Shoshone, Idaho. The top wood on this fiddle is Idaho Engelmann spruce that came from central Idaho north of Brundage Mountain. This 5-string is set up with Helicore heavy strings on the A, E, D, G and a Helicore Viola C string. The color of this fiddle is a medium golden brown. The fiddle was made from a Maggini pattern, including Maggini "F&Quot; holes and double purfling. It has good volume and very good tonal qualities.
