| #157 is a 5-string fiddle completed in April 2008. The top wood on this fiddle is Idaho Engelmann spruce that came from Idaho north of Brundage Mountain in central Idaho. The back, sides and neck are made from Carolina Poplar, wood Frank harvested on the Saras farm near Shoshone, Idaho. This 5-string is set up with Prim steel strings on the A, E, D, G and a Helicore Viola C string. The color of this fiddle is a medium golden brown. The fiddle was made from a Maggini pattern, including Maggini "F" holes and double purfling. It has good volume and very good tonal qualities. Frank sold #157 at the CBA Father’s Day bluegrass festival in Grass Valley, California. |
