| #155, a 4-string Guarneri model, was completed in March 2008. This instrument has an Idaho Engelmann spruce top and a uniquely figured silver maple back, sides and scroll. Frank nicknamed this instrument "smiley" because the figure on the back reminded him of a big smiley face. The silver maple was harvested by Frank’s father 40-50 years ago. The fiddle has great tonal qualities and is very even in volume across the four strings. This instrument was purchased in April 2008 as a very special gift for the wife of a California man who had recently purchased #144 for himself. |
