Instrument #153, a Maggini model 5-string, has a back made from Carolina Poplar wood that Frank harvested near Shoshone, Idaho.  The top is made from Frank’s Engelmann Spruce that he harvested near McCall, Idaho.  This instrument is a nice medium brown color with just a touch of red.  This 5-string has just been played about an hour in the shop, but it is very responsive, easy to play, projects well and is even across the strings.
