Frank's Fiddle Photos » Fiddle Showcase

#147 is a 4-string Guarnerius model.  The back, sides and neck on this instrument are a beautifully figured quilted maple that Frank acquired from a violin dealer in Tacoma, Washington who had had the wood for some 40 years or so.  The top wood is Englemann spruce that came from Idaho north of Brundage Mountain in central Idaho.  This fiddle has a very deep resonant tone, but has very balanced volume on all four strings.  This instrument was completed in July 2007 and will make its debut at the Darrington, Washington Bluegrass festival.
