| #109. The back, sides and neck on this Carolina Poplar fiddle came from the Saras Family Farm east of Shoshone, Idaho. The top wood is Englemann spruce that came from the Idaho mountains north of Brundage Mountain in central Idaho. The back on this fiddle is highly figured and shows up really well with the reddish-brown oil varnish that was used for the final finish. The fiddle has nice volume and is very even in tone and volume on the strings. A Guarnerius pattern was used for the fiddle. The back had a small blemish, and I had planned on keeping this instrument for my own playing pleasure, but it recently sold. |
